What Wi-Fi 7 actually changes
Wi-Fi 7 builds on Wi-Fi 6/6E with three things worth caring about: access to the clean 6 GHz band, wider channels for more throughput, and Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which lets a device use more than one band at once for better speed and reliability. In practice, that means higher real-world speeds and steadier performance in busy environments — as long as the rest of your network can keep up (more on that below). U7 Lite — the affordable entry
The Lite is the cheapest way onto Wi-Fi 7. It's a compact ceiling AP that's ideal for a home, apartment or small office where you want the newest standard without paying for multi-gig uplinks. It runs on a standard gigabit PoE port, so it drops into almost any existing switch. If your internet is a gigabit or under and your walls aren't packed with devices, the Lite is plenty.
U7 Pro — the one most people should buy
The Pro is the sweet spot for the majority of installs. It has the range, antenna design and client capacity to cover an open-plan office, a busy home, a café or a clinic, and its 2.5 GbE uplink means the access point won't choke a fast internet connection. U7 Pro XG / Pro XGS — for density and speed
The XG and XGS models are built for the hardest jobs: lecture halls, conference rooms, warehouses full of clients, or anywhere you want to push serious throughput to lots of devices at once. They pair with a 10 GbE-class switch port so the Wi-Fi is never bottlenecked by its own uplink. These are overkill for a typical home, but exactly right for a high-density space. U7 Pro Max — top of the indoor line
The Pro Max sits at the top for the most demanding indoor deployments — the highest client counts and the most throughput UniFi offers in a standard indoor AP. If you're speccing a flagship install and want the most headroom, this is it.
U7 Outdoor — weatherproof coverage
The Outdoor brings Wi-Fi 7 to spaces without a roof: patios, courtyards, loading docks, RV parks and yards. It's ruggedized for the elements and runs on a 2.5 GbE uplink, so it's a natural match for extending an indoor U7 network outside.
The spec that trips people up: the uplink
A Wi-Fi 7 access point can only deliver its speed if the wired port feeding it can carry that traffic. Put a fast AP on a plain 1-gigabit switch port and you cap it at a gigabit — no matter how capable the radio is. That's why the Pro wants a 2.5 GbE port and the XG/XGS want a 10 GbE-class port.

It's almost always better to add a second access point than to crank up one unit and hope it reaches — Wi-Fi is about coverage and capacity, not just raw power.
